Kids & Families
We love them! Kids are squirmy, smiley, sticky, goofy, loud and plenty of other adjectives depending on the day. That’s welcome here. In one story, parents were bringing their squirmy, goofy kids to Jesus to be blessed. The disciples scorned the parents for doing this but Jesus scorned the disciples! Why? Because kids belong in this Jesus movement. He loved them so much that he told the adults they are to be more like the children. This is the basis for everything we do here. To be humble like children, to ask hard questions, to encourage laughter and joy, and to be authentic is incredibly important to us.
At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a child, whom he put among them, and said, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me."
We’ve got an awesome Sunday school right now – like one that would make you or I want to join them Sunday mornings! It happens around 9am, between our 8am and 10am worship schedule and follows the school calendar timetable. We’ve got classes for pre-K and Kindergarten, 1st – 3rd grade, 4th-6th grade. We’ve got a fully equipped nursery, baby changing stations, children’s sermons, a children’s choir that sings from time to time, and so much more!
Our Confirmation program dives deep both into the Bible and into questions about life and faith. If you are like most middle school students, you’ve probably found yourself asking a few hard questions about these things yourself. Here at Trinity Lutheran Church, we’d like to be there with you as you seek out answers. Together we will meet to discuss, take field trips, bake, or anything else that will help you get answers, find questions, and grow. We’ve added service components called Days of Formation, where the kids travel offsite to experience faith in action. We've even gone as far as Providence to learn about things like homelessness, pack food and clothing, and then worship outside with a community experiencing homelessness. Interested in joining?
Students entering Grades 9-12 are invited to attend this awesome group. We meet regularly some Sunday mornings for "Donuts & Devos" a relaxing, casual time to gather and talk about life and faith. We partner with other local congregations for service events, social events and our annual Mission Trip (2017 we’re going to Brooklyn, NY, and then Houston, TX in 2018!) Our young people are encouraged to worship together at Trinity or with youth group friends at other churches and to explore other faith traditions from time to time. It is an exciting, busy and sometimes confusing time for teenagers - Youth Group is a place to face some of life's challenges together.
